Configure Shipping Labels to Show Extra Details in Dynamic Ship

Note: All label images in this article are from a test environment. Labels in Production may differ.

Dynamic Ship by Insight Works is a shipping solution integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, offering real-time shipping rates, carrier integration, package management, and tracking.

By default, shipping labels generated through Dynamic Ship include basic details like shipping address, sender, and tracking number.
If your business needs to add information — such as order number, license plate number, or serial/lot number — you can customize this using label placeholders in the Package Worksheet.

Example placeholder:

  • [contact] — prints the customer’s contact name.

(A full list of placeholders is provided at the end of this article.)

You can insert placeholders in the following fields under Package Options to print them on the label:

  • Print Custom 1

  • Print Custom 2

  • Print Custom 3

  • Invoice No.

Tip: Carriers vary in how they use these fields, so testing is important.

Common examples:

  • FedEx: Uses Invoice No. and Print Custom 1 (additional fields with custom FedEx code settings)

  • UPS: Uses Print Custom 1 and Print Custom 2

  • USPS: Supports all four fields

  • DHL: Does not use these fields for labels

These fields mainly impact the carrier’s commercial invoice report. Behavior may differ between carriers. For step by step instructions click here…
